I’ve been so anxious to share the big news with everyone, and with less than 2 weeks to go before I head off on this adventure – it’s time to share the details! I am very honoured to have been selected to represent Canada by competing in this year’s Hobie Fishing World Championship, which will be held in Austin, TEXAS!! For this event, anglers from around the world have been selected to compete head to head for the title!

All anglers will be fishing from identically-rigged Hobie Mirage Pro Angler 12 kayaks equipped with Lowrance electronics and Ram mounting systems – these kayaks have it all!
This is the second annual event and will be held on Lake Bastrop and Fayette County Reservoir this year. Last year the event was held in Australia. The format of this tournament is CPR (catch, photo, release) the combined length of 3 longest largemouth bass each day for 3 days. Each angler will be provided with an official ruler. Live wells will be provided for fish over the slot size to be brought in for official weight and photos for the Big Bass Award. I’ve seen some photos of pretty big bass from Texas, so hopefully I get the opportunity to catch a PB (personal best)!

Words cannot describe the excitement! I’ve never been to Texas, and I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to meet other anglers from all over the world that share a common love for kayak fishing!
Hobie has been posting updates on their Facebook page including this video:

I will post photos and updates in the evening when I have wifi at the hotel. I am also borrowing a couple GoPros from a friend so I can show you some footage! Look forward to sharing this big adventure with you! Wish me luck?? 🙂
