I’m excited to share some news about a project I’ve been secretly working on with Amazon Canada: the 1-Click Bass Fishing Kit! Amazon recently approached me to put together a fishing kit to help anglers save time this holiday shopping season. I decided on creating a bass fishing kit which includes some of my favourite bass fishing techniques, along with a spacious storage tote for gear and equipment. Please note: the kit is only available in Canada.

I also created a video of my 1-Click Bass Fishing Kit:

What’s Included in the 1-Click Bass Fishing Kit?

The Z-Man ChatterBait Jack Hammer paired with the RaZor ShadZ (swimbait)

A largemouth bass from Lake Guntersville, Alabama, caught on the Z-Man ChatterBait Jack Hammer paired with the RaZor ShadZ.

A Chatterbait is a bladed swim jig that includes a skirt and is an effective presentation for covering water. I like throwing the Jack Hammer over top of and along weedlines, along shorelines, around points and other types of structure. I’ve been throwing various Chatterbait styles for years for both largemouth and smallmouth bass, but last year the Jack Hammer became my favourite. I really like the unique action this bait offers. I beef up the profile and action of the Chatterbait by adding the RaZor ShadZ swimbait as a trailer. Z-Man’s special soft plastic material (called ElaZtech) is SUPER stretchy which means you don’t need to change up your bait every time you land a fish. Even when retrieved at a slow speed, the blade and tail wobble nicely and bass seem unable to resist! The Jack Hammer breaks through weeds and vegetation quite easily when I’m fishing it around cover. I most commonly throw the BHite Delight colour in a 3/8oz with the Bad Shad colour RaZor ShadZ.

Whopper Plopper

The Whopper Plopper 90 in Bone.

The Whopper Plopper is a topwater prop bait. It is a hard-bodied bait with a semi-soft and flexible tail that stirs up a lot of water when retrieved. There’s nothing quite as exciting as a topwater strike on the Whopper Plopper! The Whopper Plopper comes in various sizes, but I like the size 90 in Bone for targeting largemouth and smallmouth bass.

The Ned Rig: Z-Man Finesse ShroomZ Jighead paired with the Finesse TRD (soft plastic)

A largemouth bass caught on a Ned Rig at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.

The Ned Rig consists of a mushroom-shaped jig head, the Z-Man Finesse ShroomZ, and a soft plastic stick bait, the Finesse TRD. Although at a glance the Ned Rig looks like a very simple bait, it’s such a versatile presentation. When I’m guiding, I commonly introduce my guests to the Ned Rig as it can be fished a variety of ways: by slowly retrieving back to the boat, lifting & hopping it along bottom, or even dead-sticking it on bottom. I like throwing the Ned Rig around structure such as shorelines and docks, along weedlines, and around rocky shoals and humps. I prefer the 1/15oz Finesse ShroomZ Jighead and the Finesse TRD in Green Pumpkin in 2.75-inch.

Light Punch Rig: Berkley Crazy Legs Chigger Craw, 1oz Eco Pro Tungsten Flipping Weight and 3/0 Jungle Flipping Hook

Berkley Crazy Legs Chigger Craw, 1/2oz Eco Pro Tungsten Flipping Weight and 3/0 Jungle Flipping Hook

I’ve talked about fishing over top of and around vegetation, but the light punch rig presentation I’ve put together in this kit will enable you to fish right in the thick of the vegetation. This is easily one of my favourite ways to fish, especially in the heat of summer when bass are tucked up under matted weeds and vegetation. I like to pitch it out near openings in the weeds near ambush points, and will let it touch bottom before lifting two or three times before moving on to the next spot. I will also toss it around overhanging trees and undercut reeds. For this presentation, I like the Berkley Crazy Legs Chigger Craw in Black Blue Fleck, 1/2oz Eco Pro Tungsten Flipping Weight and 3/0 Jungle Flipping Hook.

Plano Sportman’s Trunk

With all the lures and equipment I’ve accumulated over a lifetime, it’s key to stay organized especially as the fishing seasons change. I included the Plano Sportsman’s Trunk in the kit as it’s a great option to store gear and equipment. The tote has built-in wheels, so it’s easier to move once loaded up with way too much gear!
