
Ashley Rae is a multi-species angler residing in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She is a full-time fishing writer and video/content creator. Although she did not grow up in a fishing family, Ashley fell in love with the sport at an early age through being introduced by a family friend. Ashley is passionate about chasing anything with fins from her boat, kayak, from shore or on the ice. Ashley created her blog, SheLovesToFish.com, in 2009 as a diary of her fishing adventures and has since grown to write articles for publications and websites internationally. Ashley is very active on social media and enjoys connecting with anglers from around the world. Her organic following of nearly 180k followers continues to grow.
Ashley works with a wide range of businesses, brands, government and tourism organizations, as well as event organizers to share educational fishing content and to encourage others to get involved in the sport. In addition to her blog, she shares her adventures through her YouTube channel, has been involved in various professional video projects, and has appeared on fishing shows on the World Fishing Network and beyond.
In 2016, Ashley was named as a “Game Changer” and “one of 11 outdoorswomen transforming the face of hunting and fishing” by Field & Stream Magazine.
On the tournament front, Ashley is a 3-time qualifier for the Major League Fishing Toyota Series Championship through the International Division. She first qualified in 2018 through FLW Canada. She went on to qualify again through the 2023 and 2024 Major League Fishing Canada events. In 2023, she finished as the top International Co-Angler.
In the fall of 2024, Major League Fishing and Toyota USA highlighted Ashley’s fishing journey in a short film as part of Their Story, a project featuring four women in the sport of bass fishing. The full article is available here, with the video included below:
In 2024, at the Major League Fishing Toyota Series Championship on Wheeler Lake in Alabama, where Ashley was representing Canada, she was nominated by her fellow anglers and peers for the Forrest L. Wood Sportsmanship and Community Leadership Award.
