Sights & sounds that I'll never forget! 🦃🦃

On Friday I harvested my first turkey solo, which marked my third turkey ever! I hadn’t been out turkey hunting since 2020, so there was a lot of anticipation for this season. I have so much to say about this hunt but fortunately I captured the whole experience on video (🔗 in my bio)! Although I really had to push myself outside of my comfort zone to get out in the woods at first light on my own (especially after seeing a bear roaming the neighborhood just a couple of days prior) - I did it! Everyone always says that bears are more afraid of us but I personally doubt that in my case! 😆 I am glad I talked myself into getting out the door and into the woods as a dream hunt unfolded for me. The turkeys put on a show, both vocally and visually. It’s a wild feeling to sit there and remain silent yet experience so much adrenaline at the same time. The turkey woods are a special place and I am thankful to have experienced a day like this. I am very grateful for my neighbor who provided permission to hunt on his land, and to Eric who quickly got out of bed upon hearing a ‘bang’ followed by receiving a ‘yep, I got him!!’ text, and came over to snap this photo for me. I am hopeful to get out again and fill my second tag here in Ontario, which would be another first! 🤞Good luck to everyone pursuing these amazing (and delicious) birds this spring!

Another checkmark off the fish list, blue catfish! ✔️😸 Last week I had the opportunity to head down to Wheeler Lake in Alabama to spectate the 13th Annual SeaArk Owners Invitational Catfish Tournament. Before the tournament, I had a chance to jump aboard a beautiful EasyCat with Tabitha Linville, Justin Conner, and Alex Nagy, for my first ever blue catfish experience! I’m an avid troller here in Canada when it comes to walleye and lake trout, and it was such a neat experience getting to troll for catfish. These three anglers are incredibly talented and I learned so much. Thank you to Tabitha, Justin, and Alex for the opportunity to target and get into a number of these gorgeous fish, including my biggest catfish ever at 38-pounds! It was such a memorable day of fishing, followed by an amazing tournament! I had never attended a catfish tournament before nor had I seen so many HUGE catfish in person. There were over 180 boats with nearly 500 anglers participating from over 20 states. SeaArk gave away cash and prizes, including a ProCat 200 valued at over 75k (USD)! The best 5 fish went 160.58 pounds, and the largest fish of the event was a whopping 88-pound blue catfish! 🤯 It was also wonderful to meet and spend time with many of the folks from SeaArk Boats, along with many of my teammates from all over the US. I’ve been editing a video from this experience as putting it into words just isn’t enough! I can’t wait to share this whole adventure! 🙂
