Checking off new winter experiences at Silent Lake

My latest Ontario Parks Blog assignment took me to Silent Lake Provincial Park, near Bancroft. This adventure included fishing for lake trout through the ice on beautiful Silent Lake and camping out in a yurt for the first time. It was definitely one of my most memorable ice fishing experiences as my friend Lori landed her first lake trout ever! It’s always exciting to check a new species off the bucket list and I’m thankful I was there to share that experience with her. I can’t believe I hadn’t tried yurting sooner, such an amazing way to camp out!

We stayed in yurt #99 which included a drive-up parking space, propane fireplace, electricity, and a BBQ on the deck with a side burner.

It was SO cozy, warm and clean inside. I can’t wait to go yurting again!
